Symposium Submission
Symposia feature a panel (typically four to five individuals) presenting on a common topic or theme for 90 minutes (including question and answer). Symposia submission opens first and is competitive. Proposals are ranked by the program committee based on the relevance of the topic, the timeliness of the research, and the broadness of the topic’s appeal. Higher weight will be given to symposia with multi-national participation.

Abstract presentations are split into two formats: oral abstracts and poster abstracts.
Oral abstracts are 13-minute oral presentations, plus a limited question-and-answer time. Once accepted, oral abstracts are organized into sessions by theme (e.g. insomnia and treatment, sleep health across the lifespan, circadian misalignment and risk for cardiometabolic disease and performance). Slots for oral abstract presentations are more limited, making acceptance more competitive.
Poster abstracts are organized into 45-minute sessions during which the presenter must be present with their poster to discuss the work with attendees. Posters can be presented at almost any stage of research and provide an excellent opportunity for authors to discuss their methods and findings with other professionals.
All abstracts are published in a supplemental issue of Sleep Medicine, the official journal of World Sleep Society.
